I didn’t come right out and say it in my review of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (Tao Lin’s second collection of poetry), but I love his poems. There is something so… raw about them that I find I can relate. But they’re also funny and heartbreaking and a true roller coaster of emotions.
One of the poems, February, had a line that put a smile on my face because of how I can relate to it: “A little girl ran by with about fifteen books and you said she was a genius.” I wonder if that’s what people thought about me, and if they still do.
